Google has announced Chrome Enterprise and as you can guess its geared towards enterprises and not folks like you and me. Chrome Enterprise is an enterprise version of the popular chrome operating system. According to Google, Chrome Enterprise will offer the following: access to enterprise app storefronts, deep security controls, 24/7 support, as well as integration with cloud and on premise management tools, VMware Workspace ONE and Microsoft Active Directory.
Chrome enterprise offers IT admins tools to manage an array of devices from a single point since most businesses have a lot of devices to manage one by one. It uses VMware Workspace ONE powered by VMWare Airwatch to provide a centralized approach to managing corporate devices. This collaboration combines the speed, simplicity and security of Chrome with the cloud-based unified endpoint management of VMware Airwatch. According to google, the compatibility of Chrome Enterprise with VMware Workspace ONE will enable organizations to deliver device policies using customizable assignment of groups based on geography, device platform, department, role, and more – simplifying policy enforcement across the company.
Using VMware workspace one, enterprises can create a single app catalog for their employees to access the enterprises applications from cloud, web, native Android and virtual Windows. Also, Chrome enterprise continues to provided android apps through google play store. Chrome enterprise is totally geared towards encouraging corporates to adopt chrome OS and offer competition to windows 10 enterprise while at the same time pushing corporates to Google services such as g-suite instead of Microsoft services. All I can say is competition is good for the consumers.
