Tuesday Tips – UEFA Champions League

UEFA Champions League

It’s Champions League Tuesday folks! Perfect recovery from the ever present “Monday blues”. I did have pretty much free time to go through today’s fixtures, analyzed them and came up with a couple of betting tips. Choose your ‘poison’ and feel free to comment at the end of this piece.

Spartak Moscow Vs Liverpool Liverpool FC

Spartak Moscow is not doing well in the Russian Premier League, currently at position 7 having won 1 of their 6 games and drawing 4 of those. Over the weekend, they conceded 2 goals and eventually drew with an average side Anzhi.

Liverpool marked their first group game with a nervy 2-2 draw at home to Sevilla FC, after the Spaniards made the most of the Reds poor defending. Over the weekend while away to Leicester, they managed to beat the foxes 3 -2.

Liverpool simply has lapses in their defense line. Too many positional and tactical errors from both teams but Liverpool do have an upper hand thanks to the return of Sadio Mane and the in-form Salah. I see a Liverpool win (1.63) or an over 2.5 goals (1.70) outcome on this one.

borrusia dotmund Borussia Dortmund Vs Real Madrid

Dortmund is on superb form, currently at top of the Bundesliga, winning 5 games out of 6 and drawing the game against Freiburg. They did crash Gladbach 6-1 in their Saturday fixture at home.. Dortmund should be playing in their usual 4-3-3 formation with Philipp and Pulisic on the wings, plus Aubameyang in center of attack.

Real Madrid is far away from their best possible form, Madrid have drawn 2 matches and lost 1 in their last 6 opening La Liga matches. They managed a narrow 2-1 win against Alaves during the weekend, which is an improvement from their upset against Real Betis where they lost 1-0. Guests will most likely continue in 4-3-3 formation with Bale and Asensio on the wings with Ronaldo at the center of attack.

Dortmund vs. Real Madrid is a match that promises much fireworks. It only makes sense to back goals here, and I will go with over 2.5 goals (1.35) as a slightly safer approach or both teams to score (1.35).

 Monaco Vs Porto

Monaco started their Champions League campaign on a positive note after sharing the spoils with debutant German side RB Leipzig. Despite losing a number of their key players during the transfer window, Monaco is still playing good football. They have won 6 games and only lost 1 so far in League one. Monaco has proven to be good at home, losing only to Juventus last season’s campaign.

Porto got off to their worst possible start in Champions League when they lost 3-1 at home to Besiktas. That was probably an unexpected loss since Porto was on 4 game winning streak having not conceded a goal. Porto has a 100% record having won all its opening 7 games in its domestic league. Even though they have perfect home record, I’m not sure they are ready for the Champions League having lost at home in their opening fixture, but still we can’t  rule them out.

An added boost for Monaco would be the return of Thomas Lemar, with a red hot Falcao leading  the attack plus the skillful Lemar I believe they should have what it takes to beat Porto. My take is Monaco win (2.11) or both teams to score (1.60).

  Besiktas Vs Rb Leipzig

Besiktas is currently at the top of the table, as they are the only team with a win so far in this group. Last week they won against Porto 3-1. Besiktas have never beaten German opponents in seven previous attempts, six of which ended in defeat, but they have won their last three matches and are unbeaten in their last nine matches at home having won 4 and drawn 5. Beşiktaş remain 30 home league matches unbeaten and they are eager to walk away with the three points here.

RB Leipzig made their UEFA Champions League debut in style as they held the reigning Ligue 1 champions Monaco to a 1-1 home draw, This week they are set to play their first ever European away match .Leipzig have lost two of their six Bundesliga games this term.

It will be one tough football game with lots of midfield duels and fouls, and probably lots of yellows. Trust your gut on this one but you can play safe on besiktas win or draw (1.55)
